A cooperative built for the people

Kotapola Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society is situated in the beautiful basin between the Nilwala and Gin rivers, close to the Deniyaya Sinharaja region. It was registered under the Cooperative Ordinance Act in 1972, following the coming together of several existing cooperative shop societies.

Mr. Sumanapala Dahanayake became the society's first Chairman and established a permanent building complex and main office in Waralla. Since then, the society has continued to grow by responding to the everyday needs of its members.

Today, Kotapola MPCS is one of Sri Lanka's largest cooperative societies, with services spanning retail, agriculture, finance, education, welfare, and community support.
